Free Range Chickens
In much the same way as we moved into producing bronze turkeys we decided to produce a chicken that we would be proud to put the G B Geese name to. In order to produce a great tasting chicken we rear brown feathered birds that are hatched at a small hatchery in Lincolnshire that specialise in slow growing breeds.
The chickens are kept in small groups of about 400 birds. Each group has its own mobile house within the field. This allows the chickens to graze freely during the day but they can shelter if the weather is bad. As with all the other birds the chickens are shut up each night to protect them from predators.
Because the chickens graze freely they have a golden yellow skin colour, which is a result of the yellow pigment in grass and not from feeding any artificial additives, or growth promoters.
Because of the small batches we rear the birds in available sizes can vary throughout the year and so it is preferable to contact use regarding availability before ordering. However once you do order you can be assured of receiving a proper old fashioned tasting chicken.
The chickens are prepared in small batches each Wednesday, ready for the weekend. However we do require that any orders are received by Tuesday since we only produce birds to order. If you require any further information just contact us on the details below.

Three Bird Roast - - SOLD OUT
In order to fill our three bird roast geese we source locally shot pheasant and partridge. These birds are reared and released into the wild and can truly be called free range. On receiving the birds we dry pluck and hang them for 3-5 days, which is just long enough to develop their flavour. So if you are looking for something a bit different why not try our three bird roast geese.
